Website Developer
We're looking for a UK / London based, english speaking Shopify-focused Website Developer on a freelance, hourly basis to take ownership of website management, maintenance, and ongoing development for our fast-growing jewellery brand.
You'll handle everything from day-to-day problem-solving to major seasonal campaigns (Cyberweek, sales, launches). This is a new role, we've been managing it internally but need external expertise and capacity as we scale.
The Web Developer Opportunity
Website Management & Optimization
- Monitor site performance and fix speed/performance issues
- Design new pages and build on the current site, fix anything malfunctioning.
- Resolve technical bugs, broken links, and checkout problems
- Implement design tweaks and aesthetic refinements based on Amelia's direction
- Manage the website during high-traffic periods (peak seasons, Black Friday, Cyber Week)
- Implement site-wide discounts, ensure additional discount codes, promotions, and campaigns run smoothly
Product Management
- Product management within shopify
- Build out collection pages and layouts
- Manage product data accuracy across Shopify
- Coordinate with warehouse systems to ensure inventory data syncs correctly
Shopify & Integrations
- Configure and manage Shopify apps that pull data between the website and warehouse management systems
- Work with our chosen platforms (Littledart, Eurobase, Drive Commerce, etc.) to troubleshoot syncing
Strategic Input
- Spot inefficiencies or opportunities for improvement
- Suggest better ways to manage workflows or improve user experience
- Alert Amelia to issues that need strategic input
Who We're Looking For
Essential
- Proficiency with Shopify (theme customization, Liquid templating, app configuration)
- Strong technical problem-solving skills
- Experience managing Shopify app integrations and troubleshooting data syncing
- Ability to work with warehouse management systems and understand inventory/order flow
- Comfortable with variable workload (quiet weeks + intense peak periods)
- Good eye for design and UX—you can execute direction and also spot what looks off
- Reliable and responsive for urgent issues (Cyber Week, broken checkout, etc.)
Nice to Have
- Experience with Shopify Plus or advanced customization
- Background in e-commerce or DTC brands
- Familiarity with warehouse/inventory management platforms
- UK-based (for easier collaboration)
Working Arrangement
- Freelance, hourly basis, invoice weekly/project-based
- Variable hours, some weeks minimal, peak weeks more intensive
- Flexible location, mostly remote, occasional office days in London welcome
- On-call for urgent issues, we may need quick turnarounds during peak periods
